1960s Drexel Chrome Barrel Back Chairs in Leopard Velvet, Pair
For your consideration this quite uncommon pair of 1960's chrome barrel back "Abacus" chairs freshly reupholstered in leopard print velvet. Debuting in 1965 Drexel's Viewpoint 70 line designed by James Peade followed on the heels of its wildly successful predecessor the Esperanto Collection. Unfortunately it was met with very minimal interest by consumers and subsequently few of these chairs were ever produced. This particular set was made not long after the lines release in 1965. The original chrome frames present extremely well with some minor age related wear to the finish in a few places. The upholstery and padding were badly deteriorated and have been completely and professionally replaced. The original British made Orbit line casters function normally and the chairs roll with ease.
